In Cooperation with Helcom
The Baltic Marine Environment Protection Commission (HELCOM) confirmed the protection plan for Baltic Sturgeons in 2019. An expert group of representatives from Baltic Sea countries assembles annually to share information and to discuss the fulfilment of the action plan and to increase cooperation for the restoration of the sturgeon population. This year, the experts met in Estonia from 9-11 November and the meeting was organised by LIFE project partners Wildlife Estonia and Põlula Fish Rearing Centre. The three-day meeting included visits to the Põlula rearing centre, the release of juvenile fish in River Narva and discussion on the well-being of sturgeons and what participants could do individually and together.Helcom sturgeon protection and restoration experts in Narva, 9 November 2022.
