09.04.2008 - At the meeting with county governors, RMK introduced the course of reorganisations 10.10
In his presentation, Tiit Timberg pointed out the reasons for the structural changes and explained the schedule for the changes. The clearer isolation of the business interests related to the management of the state forest from public interests was also approved by the county governors, who were mainly worried about the shifting of the rural centres and the local employment rate.
“According to the county governors, an economically sustainable step needs special attention regarding the capability of local forest surveillance and the employment rate,” Tõnis Blank, Rapla County governor commented on yesterday’s meeting.
As a response to the questions of the county governors, Member of the Management Board of RMK Tiit Timberg introduced the schedule for the structural changes and stated that the most important stage of the implementation of the changes has been reached – in the near future, offers will be made to all current employees of RMK, taking into consideration the positions of the new structure. “The results of the pilot project conducted in North-East Estonia in the first three months of the current year confirm our initial belief that forestry works can be managed as successfully with 3-4 times fewer managers, however, RMK is definitely ready to contribute to the retraining and in-service training of as many people as possible,” said Timberg, stressing the constant need for employees and good specialists in the forest. The new management structure will be applied at RMK as of 1 July this year.
At the meeting of county governors held yesterday, RMK also introduced its readiness to provide the local government with office premises that RMK will not need after the restructuring, should reasoned interest be expressed.
