In 9 months, RMK earned EUR 99.1 million in sales revenue 24.10

In the first 9 months of this year, RMK’s net profit was EUR 25.4 million. That is 34% up from the year before, when profit reached EUR 18.9 million.

Most of the revenue was generated from sales of felled timber and forest chips. In the first 9 months of the year, RMK sold 2.2 million cubic metres of felled timber, worth EUR 98.8 million. The average sales price of felled timber settled at EUR 44.7 per cubic metre, 15% higher than the year before.

According to Ulvar Kaubi, Head, Timber Marketing Department, the rise in the price of timber in the third quarter has slowed. “Mainly, our sales opportunities depend on the demand for raw material, the level of which was no longer rising in the third quarter. The activeness of the timber market held steady at a satisfactory level; however, the higher-than-usual interest in buying from the beginning of the year has subsided,” Kaubi said.

To provide facilities for the enjoyment of natural resources under everyman's right and to promote nature awareness amongst the population, RMK used a total of EUR 0.9 million in the first 9 months of 2011.

In the 2011 budget, RMK estimated revenue for the year at EUR 132 million and profit at EUR 27 million.

RMK is a profit-making state agency established under the Forestry Act, aimed at sustainable and efficient management of the state forest. RMK grows reforestation material, organises forest works, executes practical nature protection works and is engaged in forest management and timber sales. Additionally, RMK establishes opportunities for nature walking and forest holidays in recreation areas, in Estonia’s five national parks and in almost 40 other protected areas, and shapes nature awareness. RMK manages 38% of Estonia’s forests.
