RMK’s sales turnover amounted to 85 million euros and profit to 8.7 million euros in the first half-year 26.07

According to Aigar Kallas, Chairman of the Management Board of RMK, the growth of sales and profit of the half-year is consistent with the plan. “The greater part of RMK’s revenues is contributed by the sale of timber,” Aigar Kallas commented. “Compared to the previous year, we have sold more timber and the average price has also increased.”

In the first six months of 2017, RMK sold 1.81 million cubic metres of timber for a total of 80 million euros. The average sales price of timber was 44.2 euros per cubic metre, which is 3% higher compared to the previous year. In the first half of 2016, RMK sold 1.78 million cubic metres of timber for 76.4 million euros; the average price was 42.8 euros per cubic metre.
In the first half of the year, RMK sold 104,070 cubic metres of cutting waste and wood chips for 2.8 million euros, with the average sales price reaching 26.5 euros per cubic metre. During the same period last year, RMK sold 86,885 cubic metres of cutting waste and wood chips for 2.4 million euros, with the average sales price being 27.7 euros per cubic metre.

RMK’s 2017 budget projects a turnover of 178 million euros and profit of 39 million euros. In the first six months, 22% of the profit forecast has been fulfilled. RMK plans to sell 3.6 million cubic metres of timber for 164 million euros and 204,000 cubic metres of cutting waste and wood chips for 5.4 million euros.

RMK is the keeper, protector and manager of the forest and other natural biotic communities belonging to the Estonian state. RMK earns a profit for the state through forest management, grows reforestation material, and organises forest and nature protection works. In addition, RMK provides opportunities for nature walking in recreational and protected areas and shapes nature awareness. Last year, RMK’s nature reserves and recreational areas were visited 2.3 million times, with visitor numbers growing from year to year. RMK comprises the Sagadi Forest Centre, the Elistvere Animal Park, AS Eesti Metsataim and the Põlula Fish Farm. More than 700 people work for RMK; however, the total number of people employed in the state forest is 5000.
