RMK presented kindergartens with 725 copies of “Metsaelu aabits” 13.10

To support the development of nature awareness in preschool education, the State Forest Management Centre (RMK) presented the Ministry of Education and Research with 725 copies of “Metsaelu aabits”, in the Estonian and Russian language, to be distributed to kindergartens in Estonia.

The main character of the book, which introduces Estonian forests and forest life, is a boy fox, whose activities in different seasons are observed through the games and discoveries of the young cub, through hunting lessons and activities in the surrounding nature.

The stories were written by Kätlin Vainola, the authentic drawings of domestic nature were made by Kristina Reineller. The book is sold together with a CD of natural sounds in various seasons, recorded by Fred Jüssi. RMK provided advice on the compilation of the content of the book so that it would reflect the real activities of nature as much as possible.

The Forest School subdivision of the website of RMK will be updated with the supporting worksheets and activity descriptions according to seasons, so that kindergarten teachers can use these in their work.

The “Metsaelu aabits” was prepared through cooperation between RMK and Menu Kirjastus and is available at bookshops from 12 October.
