Soomaa National Park Visitor Center
The Soomaa National Park Visitor Centre is located on the site of the former Kõrtsi-Tõramaa farm, in the heart of Soomaa National Park. The surrounding landscape features vast mires and bogs, meandering rivers, rustling floodplain forests and blooming wooded meadows. As is typical of wetlands, there are many insects here, which in turn provide food for a rich variety of birdlife.
The visitor centre, together with the information desk, is housed in a large, recently renovated main building. The information desk provides details about recreational opportunities in the area and the rules within the national park. Hikers travelling along the Oandu–Aegviidu–Ikla hiking route can stop here after long stretches of straight gravel roads to rest, charge their phones and use the Wi-Fi network. The values of Soomaa National Park are presented through a modern and interactive permanent exhibition, “Travelling through Soomaa with a dugout canoe.” The permanent exhibition at the visitor centre will be open to all visitors from 19 January 2026.
NB! In protected areas, driving and parking motor vehicles outside designated roads and parking areas is prohibited. The soft peat soils of Soomaa cannot support the weight of vehicles, so please use roads and parking areas only.
