The work of the scientific council
The Research Council of RMK gathers research experts from four universities in Estonia.
The Council members provide advice to RMK on commissioning applied research and assist in decision-making related to RMK’s primary focus areas, which include forest management, nature conservation, and the use of natural resources.
Members of the Research Council serve a fixed term of three years.
As of April 2026, RMK’s Research Council includes:
- Diana Laarmann, Professor of Forest Conservation and Forestry, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Arvo Tullus, Associate Professor of Applied Ecology, University of Tartu
- Kadri Runnel, Associate Professor in Conservation Biology, University of Tartu
- Kaido Soosaar, Associate Professor in Ecotechnology, University of Tartu
- Monika Suškevičs, Associate Professor of Inclusive Planning, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Üllas Ehrlich, Associate Professor of Sustainable Value Chain Management, Tallinn University of Technology
- Reimo Lutter, Professor of Silviculture and Forest Ecology, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Tiit Vaasma, Research Fellow of Ecology, Tallinn University
- Kristjan Tõnisson, Member of the Board of RMK
