Employees
RMK employs 760 individuals dedicated to preserving our forests and biodiversity for future generations. We approach our work with heart and passion.
Like the forests of Estonia, RMK’s offices are located all over Estonia. We are a regionally important employer, and our employees can work with us in the vicinity of their homes.

How do we work?
We have formulated the three core values of RMK: long-term view, setting an example, and cooperation. These values guide us in our daily work and are expressed in our behavioural norms.
Valuing the long-term view:
- take the enduring legacy of our decisions and their impacts into account;
- learn, develop, and enjoy our work;
- use best practices and experiment with innovative solutions.
Valuing setting an example:
- keep our promises;
- share information and knowledge;
- are open, honest and caring.
Valuing collaboration:
- cooperate to achieve RMK’s objectives;
- listen, engage, and are active;
- work to find suitable solutions for the parties involved.
We support studies
We prioritise value learning and development. More than half of our workforce have higher education – nearly 200 employees hold master’s degrees, and nine have doctoral degrees.
We support our employees’ pursuit of advanced degrees by providing study time. Where needed, we cover travel expenses and accommodation in university locations.
We recognise achieving a higher level of education or degree while working: we celebrate their achievement and hold them up as role models for their colleagues.
We promote career progression
We support employee development and career progression. We offer a wide range of opportunities for self-improvement and training.
In case of vacancies, we try to find the most suitable person among our employees. Still, if necessary, we also recruit professionals with open competitions – all to ensure the competence of our employees.
Same salary for the same job
We are a socially responsible company and have no gender pay gap: women and men doing the same work receive the same pay. We value diversity, which is why we employ experienced professionals as well as young professionals who have just graduated from school.
We recognise the best
As a results-oriented organisation, we celebrate our employees’ achievements. Once a year, we select the best employees in several categories and recognise both the winners and the nominees. In addition, the deed of the year and the team of the year are selected.
We measure satisfaction
We regularly ask for feedback from our employees and measure their satisfaction. In 2023, RMK’s net promoter score (eNPS) was 65 per cent. The eNPS shows how many employees would recommend RMK as an employer to a friend or acquaintance.
