1938—The Nelijärve Tourist Home was opened
On the orders of President-Regent Konstantin Päts, the construction of the Tourist Home near Aegviidu in Nelijärve started in spring 1937. The place was opened in July 1938 and became immedately very popular among visitors in summer and winter time. In the autumn of the same year, President Päts also visited the home, giving it two swans as a gift. The tourist home had 11 rooms with 32 beds. One of the secondary rooms was a spacious ski repository. The house had central heating and electricity. A Nelijärve train stop as well as a road from the train stop to the home was built for the visitors. In addition to the ski tracks set nearby, an ice rink with a merry-go-round was opened on the lake, and people could use sledges. In 1939, 566 people stayed in the Tourist Home.
Since 1948, the former tourist home operated under the name of Aegviidu-Nelijärve Tourist Base. During winters, it operated as a ski base, popular among athletes and school students. For summer use a diving platform was built on the Purgatsi Lake shore as well as a boat dock with 15 rowing boats for tourists. There were ball courts and an outdoor gym near the tourist base.
In 2003, the building was renovated and became the Pääsu Villa of Nelijärve Resort.
