owner Valerik Hoolma happens to be present. A sign on the front door indicates whether or not the shop is open.
The shop’s building has a remarkable and respectable history. It used to be a communal granary. The shop started operating here in 1909 – more than a century ago – and the business has not stopped since. The current shopkeeper Valerik Hoolma started running the shop in 1985. However drastic the changes to rural life and village shop-keeping have been, the abacus the current owner brought with him can still be seen in the shop.
