Juminda campsite
Foot-and-mouth, a severe animal disease, is currently circulating in Europe and also poses a threat to animals in Estonia. Your help is needed to prevent animals here – sheep, cattle, goats, and other ungulates – from becoming infected. We ask that you please follow some important recommendations.
The campsite is located at the tip of the westernmost of Lahemaa’s peninsulas. It boasts a beautiful beach, a mysterious Soviet-era rocket base, the Juminda Lighthouse, and a memorial to the world’s deadliest naval battle.
Juminda, the westernmost of Lahemaa’s four peninsulas, lies between Kolga Bay and Hara Bay. The peninsula ends at Cape Juminda, home to Juminda, the oldest village on the peninsula. It is home to families whose historical fishing rights date back more than two centuries. Today, however, fishing alone does not put bread on the table, although fish is never missing from the coastal-dweller’s dining table.
