Lõunalaagri hiking trail (1.8 km)

Beautiful nature, varied landscape and the events of the past from the time of the first Republic of Estonia offer excitement here for both history and nature lovers. In 1926, the shooting range of the South Camp and a military camp with barracks, residential houses, an ambulance and casinos were built in this area. You can still see the ruins the buildings in some places. The length of the trail is 1.8 km.
Parking

Parking on Matsuri–Sesniki road for up to 30 cars.

Amenities

1.8 km circular hiking trail. Information board in the parking area, 14 points of information introducing the history of the Petseri military camp. A campfire site on the shore of the artificial lake.

Hiking Options

On the Laskevälja cycling trail and on the Peraküla-Aegviidu-Ähijärve hiking route.

Navigation instructions : 23    Drive on Tartu–Koidula road up to Matsuri, turn left (sign “Lõunalaagri matkarada”). Drive about 4.2 km and arrive at the start of the trail. Caution! This is a border area, so make sure to take along an identity document.
