Mustoja campfire site
This is the easternmost RMK campfire site in Lahemaa National Park, near the sea, in Mustoja river valley. There is a beautiful, secluded sandy beach near the campfire site, at the mouth of the river.
First mentioned in 1539, the Mustoja River has had different names throughout history: Vihula, Naareti, and even Suurjõgi, the latter of which seems especially paradoxical given the current name. The Mustoja River is special not only because of its name, but also because of its length. It passes through the highest part of the North Estonian limestone bank, which is 68 metres above sea level. In the Vihula Manor park, the river has carved a deep furrow into the sandstone.
There is a village of the same name in the estuary of the Mustoja River, the first written record of which dates back to 1583.
