Oksa hay barn forest hut
Foot-and-mouth, a severe animal disease, is currently circulating in Europe and also poses a threat to animals in Estonia. Your help is needed to prevent animals here – sheep, cattle, goats, and other ungulates – from becoming infected. We ask that you please follow some important recommendations.
For the less demanding hiker, there is a cosy old barn that offers shelter in case of rainy weather or fatigue. It is also possible to camp here during the dry season. For centuries, hay has been made on the meadows of Soomaa, where it would often be stored for several weeks in barns located on the meadows. Here, hikers have the opportunity to lie on the hay, listen to the chirping of swallows under the roof, and cook over an evening fire. This is the best place for bird watching. You can leave your car in the gravel car park by the road.
