RMK Hiking Route Oandu-Aegviidu-Ikla / Oandu–Kalmeoja (40 km)
The section running through the Lahemaa region streches from the northeast to the southwest of Lahemaa National Park.
The Hiking Route first runs through the primeval forests of the former Oandu–Koljaku Nature Reserve on prehistoric Seljaku road and through the Lemuselja–Võhma pine forests up to the Võhma village. The alvar terrain of Tandemäe, Võhma and Uusküla has evolved over millennia as a result of natural and human creation; the area had permanent settlement already 4 to 5 thousands of years ago. Among the traces of the life and activities of our ancestors are the stone walls and fields, burials and junipers growing on former fields and pastures.
From between the semi-natural landscapes the RMK Hiking Route proceeds to the river region of Lahemaa National Park. At Joaveski the Loovu River and at Nõmmeveski the Valgejõgi River fall over limestone terraces forming waterfalls. The route crosses the Pärlijõgi River running through a deep valley. After the Kalmeoja stream, finally, the boardwalk leads across the picturesque Viru bog full of bog pools.
