The trail starts 150 m from Pähni Visitor Centre, runs 3 km along a forest road and is passable by car. The sample plots are marked and described and provide an overview of reforestation and maintenance of coniferous forests and give general information about the forests in this area.

Navigation instructions : On Võru–Valga road (Road no. 67), 30 km from Võru, turn left at the Matsi junction (when coming from Valga, turn right 50 km from Valga, follow the sign “RMK Pähni külastuskeskus 6”). Drive 6 km to Pähni village. The first building to the left of the road before the Pähni stream is Pähni Visitor Centre. The trail starts 150 m from the Visitor Centre towards Matsi, by the road.
