The work of the scientific council
The Research Council of RMK gathers research experts from four universities in Estonia.
The Council members provide advice to RMK on commissioning applied research and assist in decision-making related to RMK’s primary focus areas, which include forest management, nature conservation, and the use of natural resources.
Members of the Research Council serve a fixed term of three years.
As of summer 2024, RMK’s Research Council includes:
- Diana Laarmann, Associate Professor of Forest Conservation and Forestry, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Jaan Liira, Associate Professor of Plant Ecology, Institute of Ecology and Earth Sciences, University of Tartu
- Jaanus Terasmaa, Professor of Ecohydrology, Head of the Centre for Ecology, School of Natural Sciences and Health, Tallinn University
- Kadri Runnel, Research Fellow in Conservation Biology, University of Tartu
- Kaido Soosaar, Associate Professor in Ecotechnology, University of Tartu
- Monika Suškevičs, Associate Professor of Inclusive Planning in Environmental Management, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Reimo Lutter, Junior Professor of Silviculture, Estonian University of Life Sciences
- Üllas Ehrlich, Associate Professor of Sustainable Value Chain Management, Tallinn University of Technology
- Kristjan Tõnisson as the representative of RMK
