Sales principles
Timber sold by RMK represents nearly one-third of Estonia’s annual allowed timber harvest. Our timber is certified by FSC and PEFC, which broadens the market opportunities for many Estonian timber products.
We offer logs, pulpwood, fuelwood and wood chips to businesses. The distribution of these assortments can vary slightly from year to year. On average, 45% of the timber sold consists of logs, 30% is pulpwood, 17% is fuelwood, and 8% is wood chips.
We sell most of our timber through long-term contracts or framework agreements, with the rest being sold using other methods of sale, primarily auctions.
All of RMK’s long-term contracts are public. We only enter into contracts with companies that add value to timber in Estonia. By doing so, we help stabilize the timber market and ensure that timber is used to manufacture products that are as durable as possible. This not only creates jobs for local people but also guarantees Estonia’s energy security and ensures that the state receives tax revenue from the forest and timber sector.
